A Journey with Christ
Now on that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and talking with each other about all these things that had happened. While they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself came near and went with them... Luke 24:13-15 (NRSV)

The walk to Emmaus is an experience of Christian spiritual renewal and formation that begins with a three-day short course in Christianity. It is an opportunity to meet Jesus Christ in a new way as God’s grace and love is revealed to you through other believers.
The Walk to Emmaus experience begins with the prayerful discernment and invitation from a sponsor. After one accepts this invitation he or she completes an application. The Emmaus leaders prayerfully consider each applicant and in God’s time, the person is invited to attend a three-day experience of New Testament Christianity as a lifestyle.
Following the three-day experience, participants are joined in small groups to support each other in their ongoing walk with Christ.
Through the formational process of accountable discipleship in small groups and participation in the Emmaus community, each participant’s individual gifts and servant-leadership skills are developed for use in the local church and its mission.
The objective of Emmaus is to inspire, challenge, and equip the local church members for Christian action in their homes, churches, communities and places of work. Emmaus lifts up a way for our grace-filled lives to be lived and shared with others.

One Pilgrim's reflections:
It is the only program that I have personally experienced or known about that aims to bring folks into a deeper understanding and closer relationship with Jesus Christ without regard to race, origin, or denomination. For the most part it is provided by a dedicated group of Christians you have never seen before and may never see again. You come by invitation on a Thursday evening and depart on Sunday evening. The purpose of this time together is to strengthen God's church by strengthening its individual members so that you will return nourished and enriched to your family, your church, and your community and ready to play a more important part in the advancement of God's kingdom." - ML
A Word for our SponsorsIf you would like to sponsor a person (Pilgrim) to participate in a Walk and have never done so, here is a great resource. This is actually valuable for anyone wishing for a refresher or is just curious. Sponsorship forms are in the "Sponsorship" page.
